Abuse
When someone drinks too much alcohol or uses drugs, it is usually called addiction. It can be very hard to live close to someone who has an addiction.
What does abuse mean?
Addiction is when someone becomes completely dependent on drinking alcohol or using drugs. Addiction is often both harmful and dangerous for the person who abuses it. It is also common for the addiction to affect everyday life and people around you.
The person who abuses may often become irritated or angry. There may also be trouble and disorder at home. Sometimes it becomes difficult for the person with a substance use disorder to work or go to school, or to take care of the home, themselves and others.
